Our Story

Thank you for your interest in this fundraising event! My name is Sheree, and I am the lead organizer. My team and I are working hard to make this a night of enjoyment as we raise funds for Village of Hope, an organization located in San Lucas, Guatemala, that provides family, faith and a future to special needs children and vulnerable mothers in a family style setting.

In June, 2018 I had the privilege to travel to Guatemala and visit Village of Hope and see first hand the impact they have in the lives of the children that they house on this property. While I was on this trip I was asked the question, "What is an injustice you see in the world, and what are you going to do about it?" and as an answer to this call I am organizing this silent auction and dinner event for the Colorado Springs community in the hopes of raising money to help with Village of Hope's monthly costs, which are around $21,000. All profits from this event will go directly to this organization to help finance any of their immediate needs or monthly costs and we hope to raise a quarter of their monthly costs, or $5,250. We would love to see you there!

About the Village

Village of Hope is located in San Lucas, Guatemala and their purpose is to provide family, faith and a future to special needs children and vulnerable mothers in a family style setting. Each family living unit consists of house parents and about 8 children or mothers living in a home together on the Village of Hope property.

"The goal of this family style setting is to avoid institutional living and prevent children from being thrown out on the streets when they are 18. Because adoptions are closed in Guatemala there is little hope of the children ever being adopted into families of their own.

By providing Guatemalan house parents (a married couple) who provide care for the children, our children understand that they belong and that someone is investing in their life and their future. They have a mother and father figure to pray with them, help them with their homework, and help them develop as they grow.

In the family style homes, children receive nourishment, education, and appropriate attention. They learn how families live together and how a husband and wife interact and respect each other. The family living is beneficial to their development and will serve them as a model for when they form their own families in the future."
